Job Description
The Physical or Occupational Staff Therapist Position provides evaluation and therapy services, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition of care, in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral.
Provides comprehensive compliant and safe clinical care demonstrating the philosophy of family centered care, a commitment to the achievement of optimal patient outcomes in alignment with the standards of practice of their professional organization.
Works with medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized plans of care to meet the needs of the pediatric patients and their family. In cooperation with other local leaders, offers exceptional care following the Shriners Hospitals for Children® FOCUSED©™ Program, a system-wide model for professional practice that stresses and emphasizes patient-centered care, or always putting the needs of the patients (and their families first). Shriners Portland is looking for a PRN Occupational Therapist to join the team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Functions as a team member and develops leadership skills through activities such as mentoring and providing education to students and other professionals.
- Supports the ongoing development and improvement of the department through participation in special projects, performance improvement and facility committees.
- Responsible for professional growth and development through ongoing education and research in alignment with hospital’s patient care and strategic direction.
- Responsible for maintaining current knowledge in changes related to scope of practice, coding/billing practices, compliant documentation and any other knowledge related to the compliant practice in a revenue cycle environment.
- Demonstrates competency in the examination of the patient to include history and systems review, selection and administration of specific tests and measures to obtain clinical data.
- Provides timely monitoring of the response to intervention and makes necessary modifications. Designs and implements a home program for infant, toddler, school-age, adolescent, and young adult patients to maximize the potential for accomplishment of goals as established in the initial assessment/plan of care.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Licensed in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of PT or OT practice experience
- Pediatric experience
- AOTA fieldwork educator certificate, APTA credentialed clinical instructor, or ASHA clinical fellowship mentor

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
