As an Environmental Qualification Engineer III, you will handle advanced tasks in requirements engineering, Verification & Validation (V&V), and airworthiness certification with a high level of competence. You will lead equipment qualification planning and testing, certification artifact review, and risk management efforts, providing guidance to junior engineers, subsystem Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and subcontractors. You will take on significant project responsibilities, demonstrating expertise in equipment qualification and airworthiness certification. Effective communication and collaboration are crucial as you drive project success and mentor less experienced team members.
Responsibilities:
- Environmental qualification requirements allocation to individual equipment
- Evaluation of qualification artifacts against equipment qualification requirements, including initial qualification gap assessments (assessment of existing data) and final evaluation of program artifacts developed for SAOC
- Coordination with and support of IPTs and subcontractors to ensure qualification requirements are understood and qualification plans are developed and successfully executed
- Environmental qualification database maintenance
- Lead technical planning and risk management efforts.
- Take on significant project responsibilities and guide junior engineers.
- Demonstrate expertise in environmental qualification and airworthiness certification.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively to drive project success.
- Mentor less experienced team members.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in electromagnetic effects engineering, environmental qualification, certification, systems engineering or related field.
- Experience with FAA certification process
- Experience with equipment environmental qualification methods for FAA and/or military aircraft certification
- Experience with civil and military equipment qualification standards - RTCA/DO-160G, MIL-STD-810H, and/or MIL-STD-461G
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Practical knowledge of multiple Engineering principles and practices.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
- Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation, technical risk identification and management strategies, and V&V principles.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Background in Aerospace and Defense industry.
- Experience performing qualification testing
- Experience preparing test plans, procedures, and reports
- Experience with Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) programs
- Experience in a specialized field related to qualification, such as mechanical systems, electrical systems, structural dynamics, or electromagnetic effects
- Practical knowledge of industry standard design principles
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
- Hand/finger dexterity for system modeling and documentation.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel.
