Senior Analyst, Compensation Operations & Enablement

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Analyst, Compensation Operations & Enablement serves as an operational partner within the Compensation function, helping connect compensation strategy, systems, data, and execution. This role partners with HR, Payroll, Talent Technology, and Compensation to translate business requirements into practical workflows, strengthen compensation controls, and support accurate delivery of pay programs. The Senior Analyst helps identify operational risks, improve recurring processes, and distinguish isolated exceptions from broader system or process concerns. This individual contributor role reports to the Senior Director, Compensation and is well suited for a compensation professional who combines analytical rigor, systems fluency, sound judgment, and strong process discipline.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a key Compensation partner to Talent Technology, translating compensation and business requirements into clear specifications and practical workflows.
• Manage and enhance compensation controls, processes, data routines, and system partnerships that support the execution of pay strategies and programs.
• Strengthen the operational infrastructure supporting compensation programs, annual cycles, recurring reporting, and related business processes.
• Analyze ambiguous compensation operations issues, distinguish one-time exceptions from systemic concerns, and recommend practical solutions.
• Apply systems knowledge, analytical rigor, and sound judgment to identify data, process, and operational risks before they affect compensation programs.
• Build and maintain compensation data controls, including quality-assurance routines, audit checks, validation procedures, and reconciliation processes.
• Review manual processes and recommend opportunities to automate, standardize, simplify, and scale recurring work.
• Coordinate and execute enterprise-wide compensation survey submissions and recurring reporting routines, including ad hoc job matching for selected functions.
• Support the successful execution of compensation cycles, including planning, system readiness, data validation, communications, and post-cycle reconciliation.
• Coordinate compensation operations for Managed Hotel associates, including pay structures, merit cycles, and pay-practice guidance.
• Document processes, decisions, dependencies, controls, and outcomes to promote consistency, accuracy, and operational continuity.
• Collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical partners across HR, Payroll, Talent Technology, and Compensation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Employment Experience

• 4-6 years of experience in compensation operations, HR analytics, HR information systems, or a related environment requiring accuracy, analytical judgment, and disciplined process execution.
• Experience supporting annual or recurring compensation cycles in system-enabled environments.
• Working knowledge of compensation administration, including the ability to recognize when a data issue may indicate a broader process, control, or system concern.
• Experience with audit activities, process optimization, automation, or HR technology is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills, including experience working with large datasets, formulas, data validation, audits, reconciliations, and recurring reporting routines.
• Ability to perform data quality reviews and develop or maintain controls that support accurate compensation administration.
• Experience working with compensation, HR, payroll, reporting, or related enterprise systems.
• Ability to translate business and compensation requirements into system specifications, repeatable processes, and practical workflows.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, compensation, human resources, HR information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Relevant compensation, HR technology, analytics, process improvement, audit, or project management certifications are preferred but not required.

SALARY RANGE

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus under Choice’s Management Incentive Plan (MIP).

Pay positioning within the range is influenced by factors including—but not limited to—education, experience, skills, certifications, performance, geographic location, business needs, seniority, and travel requirements.

This role is based at Choice Hotels' headquarters in North Bethesda, Maryland, and follows a hybrid work model, with a combination of in-office and remote work based on business needs and team expectations.
