| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced Electrical Switch, Actuator & Sensor Release Engineer to join our growing team. Slate is a new US Electric Vehicle company transforming the battery electric vehicle space. Our technology is designed to deliver the most reliable and most efficient low cost of ownership electric vehicle on the market.

| WHAT YOU GET TO DO

The Electrical Switch, Actuator & Sensor Release Engineer will develop the requirements and manage the Tier 1 suppliers for different electrical switches and actuators listed in the Program Description Letter.

This Engineer will report to the Manager, Electrical Hardware and Accessories and will be responsible for driving the development of the electrical switch and actuator requirements for all the Slate battery electric vehicles. The Engineer will be challenged to develop unique solutions for various switches, actuators and sensors for a non-traditional vehicle. Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills. This is a hands-on position that will also require leadership of Tier 1 suppliers.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop functional requirements for electrical switches, actuators & sensors including interfaces, diagnostics, and fault detection protocol
  • Develop and document test plans for the required switches, actuators & sensors.
  • Release the component(s) Part Numbers in the Product Lifecycle Management system and maintain release levels as the design matures.
  • Lead DFMEA reviews to identify technical risks and drive the controls logic to improve detection and reduce potential failures of the design
  • Review hardware design with cross functional teams to ensure the hardware meets requirements.
  • Implement and maintain cyber-security best practices to ensure robust customer and corporation protection over the lifecycle
  • Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout

| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred.
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Hands on / detail oriented
  • Comfortable working with low voltage and high voltage systems
  • Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
  • Specific experience including
  • Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
  • High voltage components such as DCDC, motor and inverter, battery, and on-board charger, etc.
  • Experience with harness development tools such as Capital and Zuken
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet and LVDS protocol physical topology requirements
  • 8D, five whys, and fishbone process to diagnose complex issues
  • PPAP experience developing and creating Design records, FMEA’s, Control Plans, etc

Salary Range: The compensation for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; work location; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$123,339.06 - $185,008.58 USD Annual

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Slate offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in the equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
