About the Job

The Access Center Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for patients and providers seeking access to care within Southern New Hampshire Health. Working under the direction of the Manager, Access and Engagement, this role supports patient registration, appointment scheduling, referral processing, insurance verification, and prior authorization activities. The position is primarily telephone and technology-based, requiring exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to manage high volumes of patient interactions in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Prior Authorization - Radiology focus
  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients and providers seeking access to care services across Southern New Hampshire Health.
  • Coordinate registration and scheduling for new patient appointments.
  • Accurately document patient demographic, medical, financial, and referral information within EPIC and other systems.
  • Answer incoming calls, triage inquiries, and provide detailed and accurate documentation of patient communications.
  • Provide patients with information regarding practices, providers, and hospital services.
  • Arrange interpreter services and other support resources as needed.
  • Process referrals and prior authorization requests to facilitate timely patient care.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and assist with denial analysis and payer appeal processes.
  • Collect and coordinate required information and medical records prior to patient appointments.
  • Accurately transcribe referrals, scheduling requests, and patient communications across multiple systems.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support service recovery efforts when necessary.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Communicate operational concerns and workflow issues to leadership.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new staff members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are / Requirements

  • Experience with Prior Authorization
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare, registration, scheduling, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Detail-oriented with strong data entry and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume call center or customer service environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • Comfortable utilizing technology and multiple systems to support patient needs.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and process patient and provider requests, including appointment scheduling, cancellations, provider messaging, and insurance or demographic updates.
  • Knowledge of healthcare scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, prior authorizations, or EPIC is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to perform duties remotely or off-site as approved by management.

Full time | 40 hours/week | 8:30am -5:00pm | Hybrid | Nashua, NH
