This Senior Copywriter role sits within Strategic Education, Inc.’s (SEI) Education Technology Services (ETS) marketing team, supporting two of our brands—Sophia Learning and Workforce Edge—as well as our university partners, across a B2B2C audience.

The Senior Copywriter creates compelling short- and longform copy across email, web, social, and campaign channels. This is a senior role for a strategic thought partner who shapes ideas as well as executes them, elevates the craft of the wider team, and is genuinely curious about performance data and how AI and generative engines are reshaping content discovery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Concepting and Creative DirectionBig-idea and messaging concept development Campaign direction partnership, from strategy through execution
  • Audience- and Platform-Specific MessagingAudience-resonant copy across B2C, B2B, and B2B2C Channel- and platform-optimized messaging (email, paid social, landing pages, etc.) Awareness of how content is surfaced and evaluated by AI and search
  • Performance-Driven WritingData-informed content strategy (engagement, conversion, search/AI-visibility) Performance insights applied as a creative input, not an afterthought
  • Market, Audience, and Competitive FluencyOngoing awareness of workforce and higher ed trends and competitive activity Translation of market and audience insight into resonant messaging

Job Skills:

  • Multi-brand copywriting for B2C, B2B, and higher-education audiences, with editing, proofreading, and brand-voice alignment skills.
  • Storytelling and concepting ability—generating ideas and shaping messaging, not only executing to brief.
  • Ability to tailor messaging by audience and platform, with understanding of content performance across email, social, web, search, and AI-driven surfaces.
  • Comfort interpreting performance data (engagement, conversion, AI-visibility) to inform copy and content strategy.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, AEO, and GEO, with interest in how LLMs, AI copilots, and agentic tools are reshaping content discovery.
  • Editorial judgment and research skills to verify, contextualize, and hold content to E-E-A-T standards.
  • Ability to mentor writers and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a writer in a corporate or marketing communications structure, ideally including in-house or agency experience.
  • Experience or strong demonstrated interest in AI-driven marketing, GEO/SEO, or content strategy is a plus.
  • Experience with a content management system, project-management tools (e.g., Workfront, Asana, or Monday), AI tools, and SEO/content tools (e.g., Semrush, Ahrefs, or Clearscope) is a plus.
  • Academic institution, and/or EdTech experience is a plus.
  • Required attachments: A portfolio of writing samples demonstrating range across audiences (B2C, B2B) and formats (short- and longform) is required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Other:

  • Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided.
  • Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
