The Demand Planner develops, maintains, and improves base statistical or machine learning forecasts and consensus demand plans in partnership with Sales, Category Management, Finance, Supply Planning, and Operations. This role serves as a business storyteller by clearly explaining forecast inputs, changes, risks, opportunities, and how the demand plan supports business objectives. The position also supports consistent forecasting practices, governance, and planning maturity across the organization.

You’ll add value to this role through the following, but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain demand forecasts using sales, shipment, depletion, and consumption data.
  • Analyze forecast accuracy, bias, value-add, volatility, and stability to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Diagnose forecast errors, explain key variances, and implement corrective actions to improve forecast quality.
  • Manage demand forecasting units, lifecycle events, new product introductions, phase-ins, phase-outs, and forecast exceptions.
  • Challenge low-probability forecast assumptions using data and analytics to support accurate and unbiased demand plans.
  • Use exception-based planning approaches to prioritize high-impact items and focus analysis where it creates the most value.
  • Lead or facilitate IBP demand consensus discussions with Sales, Category, Finance, and Supply Chain partners.
  • Document assumptions, decisions, risks, opportunities, and material volume or revenue impacts supporting the consensus plan.
  • Assess how planning assumptions impact supply execution and escalate potential risks or changes to Supply Planning.
  • Incorporate promotions, events, launches, discontinuations, market trends, customer demand signals, and ordering behavior into forecast assumptions.
  • Use available market intelligence and external data sources, such as Circana or Nielsen, to inform forecast recommendations.
  • Translate commercial strategies into quantified demand impacts and support scenario planning for risks and opportunities.
  • Use enterprise planning, reporting, and analysis tools to generate forecasts, communicate insights, and identify data quality issues.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Enable high-quality S&OP / IBP decisions through clear, data-driven storytelling and well-structured demand plans.
