The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning teams across complex energy infrastructure projects worldwide.
Based in Västerås, you will play a key role in driving commissioning execution, developing people, planning resources, and ensuring successful project delivery from pre-commissioning through testing, energization, start-up, and customer handover.
As part of a growing commissioning organization, you will combine technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities, helping to build high-performing teams while supporting the delivery of HV and HVDC projects that are enabling the global energy transition.
This role is ideal for an experienced Commissioning Manager or a Senior Commissioning Engineer ready to take the next step into leadership.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Lead commissioning activities across multiple projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and successful execution on site.
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to commissioning teams throughout all phases of project delivery.
- Plan and coordinate commissioning resources, balancing workloads and optimizing workforce utilization across projects.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Commissioning Managers, Engineering teams, and customers to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Develop and maintain commissioning schedules, procedures, and execution plans aligned with project requirements.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical and operational challenges during commissioning, testing, and start-up activities.
- Build strong relationships with customers, contractors, and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication throughout project execution.
- Lead customer-facing commissioning activities, including site reviews, acceptance testing, and project handover.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and develop Commissioning Engineers, helping build future leadership capability within the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, knowledge sharing, and best-practice implementation.
Your Background
- Proven commissioning experience within power, energy, utilities, industrial, transmission, or related infrastructure projects.
- Strong site-based experience with a solid understanding of commissioning challenges and project execution.
- Experience with High Voltage (HV) systems, substations, or power transmission projects.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or people management experience is preferred.
- HVDC experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong stakeholder and customer management skills.
- Experience planning and coordinating work across multiple projects or commissioning activities.
- Strong organizational and resource planning capabilities.
- Ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and manage challenging conversations when required.
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical background preferred.
Who You Are
You are a people-focused leader who enjoys developing teams and delivering results in challenging project environments. You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing technical, operational, and people-related priorities.
Most importantly, you bring the right mindset. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, works collaboratively, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
Why Join Us?
- Lead commissioning teams on some of the world's most complex energy infrastructure projects.
- Play a key role in growing and developing the commissioning organization in Västerås.
- Work with industry-leading HV and HVDC technologies.
- Develop your leadership career within a global and collaborative organization.
- Contribute directly to projects supporting the world's transition to a more sustainable energy future.
We welcome applications from both experienced Commissioning Managers and Senior Commissioning Engineers who are ready to take the next step into a leadership position. Attitude, leadership potential, and a passion for developing people are just as important as technical expertise.
