The ideal candidate should have a passion for outdoor activities and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate has proficient knowledge in Ski and Snowboard tuning and Mounting, Bicycle repair and tuning knowledge, and the willingness to learn new tune machines.
Backcountry Outlet is seeking a highly motivated and organized Shop Assistant Manager to assist our Store Manager in the daily operations of our brick-and-mortar retail and rental store. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the outdoors and have experience in Bike and Snow shop management, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.
This role is challenging – above and beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have a big role within a fast-paced team.
This position will report into the Retail Store Manager.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist the Store Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the retail/rental store, including rental inventory, shop supply inventory, shop scheduling, and more.
- Ensure that the shop is always clean, organized and well-stocked
- Assist the Store Manager in opening and closing the store
- Ensure the store is properly secured, and alarm systems are functioning correctly
- Manage cash and credit card transactions, and perform daily cash reconciliations
- Maintain accurate inventory levels, conduct regular inventory audits, and report any discrepancies to the store manager
- Train and supervise shop staff to ensure they are knowledgeable about all processes and the products we sell and provide exceptional customer service
- Protect store assets following loss prevention and safety standards
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers to build customer loyalty and repeat business
- Assist in the development and implementation of processes to increase shop efficiency
- Maintain tune and mount scheduling
- Schedule employees to run tune, rental, and Ski shop
- Train employees in proper operation and safety of shop
What You Bring:
- 2-3 years of experience in Snow shop management
- 2-3 years of experience in Bike shop management
- Passion for outdoor activities and knowledge of outdoor gear and apparel
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of retail operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems
- Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to communicate verbally and work cooperatively with associates and customers
- Ability to remain standing for up to 5 hours at a time
- Ability to move about the store coaching and directing associates; selling to customers and retrieving merchandise from stockroom or sales floor
- Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to retrieve and replenish merchandise from stockroom or sales floor
- Ability to lift and/or move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and/or move merchandise
- Ability to operate a computer, POS system, keyboards, merchandise scanners and mouse to accomplish work
- Must have a flexible schedule, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays
- Regular and predictable attendance
