ROLE TITLE: Managing Director, Operations

POSITION REPORTS TO: Chief of Staff & Development

WHAT YOU’LL DO We are looking for a candidate who will lead internal operations to ensure Teach For America Indianapolis can execute on its FY27 priorities, including corps growth, program expansion, and increased ecosystem engagement. You will build the systems, processes, and communication structures that enable a high-performing, aligned regional team.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about operational excellence with the ability to manage complexity, drive clarity, and ensure strong execution across functions. You will serve as a key connector across teams, ensuring that strategy translates into coordinated action in a dynamic and evolving environment.

The goal of this role is to build and maintain the operational infrastructure that enables the region to deliver on ambitious student impact and talent goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Strategic leadership and partnership with the ED and internal implementation within the regional team (15%)
  • Manage internal operations, team planning, and staff support systems to enable execution of regional priorities (35%)
  • Oversee budgeting, financial tracking, and resource allocation in alignment with regional goals (10%)
  • Lead interna and (external) communications to ensure clarity, alignment, and consistency across teams (20%)
  • Coordinate agile responses to emerging priorities, supporting leadership in navigating a dynamic ecosystem (20%)

A WEEK IN THE LIFE In a typical week, you might align with team leads on priorities and resourcing, track budget progress against strategic investments, and manage internal communications that keep the team informed and aligned. You will facilitate team meetings, solve operational challenges, and respond to emerging needs tied to partnerships, programming, or recruitment. Your work ensures the region operates with focus, adaptability, and strong coordination.

YOUR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of experience in education, operations, project management, or organizational leadership
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in nonprofit or education settings
  • Experience managing budgets and financial processes
  • Experience supporting senior leadership or managing cross-functional work
  • Experience in change management or organizational design
  • Familiarity with Teach For America systems and structures

YOUR FUTURE TEAM You will work closely with the Chief of Staff & Development and partner across all regional teams. This role sits at the center of the organization, ensuring that priorities are clear, resources are aligned, and teams are equipped to execute. YOUR COMPENSATION The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Tier A: $81,700 - 107,300
