Your job: to execute a clear content strategy that aligns with the brand strategy while also writing and editing shoppable and engaging editorial content. We’re looking for a person who has a strong background in the beauty industry, but also understands the world of affiliate inside and out. This person must also be comfortable with content and data, responsible for not only editing a high volume of stories and writing if/as needed, but also determining content clusters and reporting on performance metrics. This role reports to the Senior Commerce Director for Allure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a roster of freelancers, inclusive of pay scales, keeping all deadlines on track, and developing new writer talent
  • Maintain and optimize Allure’s testing methodologies and ensure we are following best UGC processes and practices
  • Drive a clear editorial point of view for product and shopping recommendations appealing to the Allure reader
  • Partner with the commerce team on shoppable newsletters
  • Apply SEO and GEO best practices to commerce-driven posts and commerce editorial calendar
  • Pitch and execute against commerce partnerships
  • Identify categories that present commerce opportunities by studying purchasing data, tracking site analytics, performing a competitive analysis of comparable sites, and researching consumer trends.
  • Participate in editorial meetings and collaborate with vertical editors to develop commerce opportunities in each of our categories that fit the Allure brand voice and vision
  • Coordinate closely with the Commerce and Audience Development teams to share data and best practices that can inform editorial decision-making
  • Partner with existing affiliate link partners to optimize revenue opportunities, while working directly with retailers and brands to build relationships

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate must have a mix of product & shopping editorial expertise as well as strong enthusiasm for helping define the content-to-commerce strategy at Allure.
  • 4+ years editing commerce content at a digital property, and must have prior beauty writing experience
  • Highly organized, with the ability to own a daily content calendar as well as shopping tentpoles
  • Experience managing a team and working with freelancers
  • Demonstrated experience in beauty product testing, documentation, and creating video-forward commerce content
  • Familiarity with building and executing content across site, social, and newsletters in a strategic and efficient capacity
  • Solid knowledge of SEO tactics to attract a buying audience
  • Experience analyzing performance across different verticals, product categories, retailers and content types to optimize for revenue generation
  • Experience in managing product sourcing logistics at a digital property (either editorial or commerce)
  • Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills
  • A self-starter who relishes the opportunity to directly accelerate the growth of Conde Nast’s commerce business
  • Serve as on-camera talent, demonstrating a strong presence and the ability to engage audiences in an authentic, credible, and compelling manner.
  • Create and present product reviews and editorial content across multiple formats, including video and social-first platforms.
  • Capture, produce, and edit high-quality, social-first video content optimized for digital platforms.
  • Candidates for roles with on-camera responsibilities may be required to complete an on-camera/screen test as part of the interview process.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $80,000-$94,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
