SUMMARY:
The Program Director of Educator Preparation Clinical Initiatives, under general supervision, coordinates and supports clinical experience initiatives within educator preparation programs. The position serves as the primary liaison among school district partners, the Office of Educator Certification, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, and other stakeholders to facilitate clinical placements, support mentor teacher and supervisor development, monitor candidate progress, and collect data to support continuous program improvement. This position will be primarily located at the Dallas location with occasional travel to the main campus.
This position is grant funded through 08/31/2029. Continued employment is contingent upon funding renewal.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the coordination of clinical placements for teacher candidates with school districts and educational partners across the state.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for school district personnel regarding clinical experiences, placements, and partnership activities.
- Coordinate and oversee training and support for mentor teachers and university field supervisors to ensure effective supervision of teacher candidates.
- Serve as a liaison between the Office of Educator Certification and school districts to facilitate the completion and submission of required certification and clinical experience documentation.
- Serve as a liaison between the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and program advisors to communicate Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, policy changes, and educator preparation program updates.
- Coordinate with College of Innovation and Design Student Success Team on student matters including, but not limited to, academic advising and clinical teaching application completion.
- Monitor teacher candidate growth and progress throughout clinical experiences and assist in identifying and addressing areas of concern.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to university field supervisors regarding clinical experience expectations, assessment processes, and candidate development.
- Coordinate planning and participate in advisory meetings with school district and community partners to strengthen educator preparation partnerships and support continuous program improvement.
- Collect, maintain, analyze, and report data related to clinical placements, candidate performance, and partnership effectiveness.
- Assist with educator preparation and Academic Affairs initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Higher Education Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Three years of experience in educator preparation, K-12 education, field-based teacher education, clinical supervision, program administration, or a related area.
- Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledge of educator preparation programs, clinical teaching requirements, and state certification regulations.
- Knowledge of Texas Education Agency policies and educator certification processes.
- Knowledge of data collection, reporting, and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with school district personnel, faculty, staff, mentor teachers, and community partners.
- Ability to organize multiple projects, manage complex processes, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare reports to support program assessment and improvement efforts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and student information systems.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid Texas Teaching Certificate; Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with educator preparation programs and clinical teaching placements.
- Experience collaborating with PK-12 school districts and educational partners.
- Experience providing training, coaching, or supervision to educators.
- Familiarity with accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement processes related to educator preparation programs.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Supervision of university field supervisors.
