Senior Employment Litigation Counsel

About the Team: Our Global Legal team provides key support for all TikTok’s innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support. The TikTok team is growing fast and is seeking highly experienced, bright and capable legal professionals to join the team. The Global Employment Law team provides strategic and practical legal advice to Human Resources and business stakeholders globally, and handles employment litigation matters involving TikTok in all the regions in which TikTok operates. This role is for an experienced employment lawyer with expertise in managing HR investigations, employment law disputes and litigation matters and will report to our Head of Global Employment Litigation. The following describes the responsibilities and requirements for the role.

Responsibilities: - Manage all aspects of employment disputes, including risk assessment and development of litigation defense strategies, effective management of external legal counsel, working cross-functionally to manage e-discovery issues, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, depositions, case management conferences, motion practice, and arbitration or trial preparation and presentation. - Work with investigative teams to ensure thorough, complete, and privileged investigations of employment-related matters, and provide employment law advice and guidance. Conduct investigations of certain complex or high-level employment matters. - Serve as a strong contributor on legal compliance matters relating to employment law issues. - Help to build and manage internal processes and policies to efficiently and effectively manage our growing litigation caseload. - Help to analyze litigation trends and work cross functionally to share key litigation insights and learnings. - Work cross-functionally to create, lead, or support training on global employment law issues, as needed.

Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school with membership in good standing with a state bar. - Significant employment law experience in private practice with a highly regarded firm and a corporate legal department, with a focus on advising on investigations and managing employment disputes and litigation matters. - Experience handling employment litigation matters in multiple jurisdictions, through all stages of litigation, including trial, retaining and managing outside counsel to ensure that all aspects of the company's legal representation are of the highest quality, and representing multi-national companies involved in complex disputes with outstanding outcomes. - Experience conducting investigations into workplace complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, interviewing witnesses, analyzing documents and other evidence, assessing credibility and making findings. - Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work as a team player who can effectively collaborate with colleagues from the Global Legal team and business stakeholders. - Excellent communication skills, including exceptional legal writing skills and the ability to craft persuasive and concise briefs.

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience taking matters through trial or binding arbitration a plus.
