Job Summary
This is a basic level position that can spray primer, wipe stains, validate paint inventories and fill out order sheets as well as all the skills required in lower level paint positions including masking, scuffing, puttying, spackling, and cleaning of parts. Spray with air-assisted airless, HVLP, pressure pots, and cup guns.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up prior to spray and clean up equipment used at the completion
- Wear a fitted respirator while spraying must pass the respirator fit test prior
- Participate in ongoing development/improvement of paint department policies, procedures, and techniques
- Accountable for standard paint department policies and procedures
- Exhibit safety consciousness and ensure all work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly manner
- Clean and maintain spray guns daily
- Knowledge of sanding and prep work
- Disassemble items to prepare them for finishing using hand tools
- Smooth and touch-up surfaces to prepare them for finishing, using a variety of wood fillers, sanders, and sandpaper
- Sand surfaces after primer/sealer coat, using sanders and sanding pads. Mask off fixtures as needed, using masking tape and paper
- Down-stack finished parts
- Continually work toward improving quality, productivity, and safety
- Cooperate with other departments to ensure overall success
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor; may include laminating or painting
- Perform sanding and prep work as required by the work schedule
- As needed, clean and maintain equipment and tools in proper working order
- Be able to follow directions well
- Ensure that the work done is of good quality

Qualifications
- 1 year of commercial or industrial paint prep with at least 6 months of previous spray experience preferred
- Ability to pass internal training program within proscribed time periods for each area
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Familiar and capable of reading MSDS sheets
Hourly $20.00 - $23.00 dependent on experience.
