Sr. Ophthalmic Technologist - Colony Park North
Serves in a senior role performing ophthalmic procedures under the direction and/or supervision of an ophthalmologist. Conducts patient screening, diagnostic testing, patient education, and perform administrative procedures.
Education and Experience Required:
High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years of ophthalmic technologist experience.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration required:
N/A
Preferred Qualifications:
Ophthalmic certification from the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, ocular anatomy, ophthalmic pharmacology, ocular motility and diseases of the eye. Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures including visual field testing, contact lenses, ophthalmic surgery, and the care and maintenance of ophthalmic instruments and equipment. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to operate ophthalmic equipment and administer preliminary screening examinations.

Physical and Environmental Demands Requires frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
