POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a full-time, fixed term, academic support professional position with the title of Pre-College Services Coordinator. This position coordinates a pre-college program and plans, facilitates, and evaluates related events. Instructs courses for a pre-college program in support of preparing individuals to be successful in their higher education endeavors.

In this role, the coordinator is responsible for providing student advising, academic support, outreach, program coordination and other miscellaneous duties for high school students of Washington Technology Magnet. During the academic year, this position requires office presence and programing at Washington Technology Magnet. This position requires some evening and weekend activity support. Appointment end date is planned for May 22nd, 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinates a pre-college service program.
• Supports innovative educational/academic support services that ensure postsecondary success for low income, potential first-generation college students, on campus and at target high school; Saturday/afterschool sessions.
• Designs and drafts program specific materials and resources for educational pre-college program.
• Develops, facilitates, and evaluates educational pre-college program content and materials.
• Identifies opportunities for pre-college program improvement or new service development.
• Schedules, secures, and communicates logistics and resources in support of educational program events and conferences.
• Organize and chaperone college visits, academic enrichment field trips, and program excursions.
• Assist with supervision of student workers, tutors, and others as assigned.
• Support daily office operations, including front-line communication with students, families, and visitors.
• Assists with student recruitment, supplemental advising/coaching students one-on-one and small group academic advising, mentoring, counseling.
• Maintaining academic records, paper and electronic files, and preparing reports.
• Manage a caseload of students, develop and implement individualized educational plans based on student needs and program objectives.
• Monitor academic progress through grades, transcripts, assessments, and tutoring participation.
• Acts as liaison between target school and the university, maintain relationships and correspondence with target high school administration and counseling staff.
• Assists the Project Director in interviewing, selecting, training and evaluating instructors, residential advisors, project specialists, residential coordinators and program assistants.
• Assist with the planning, coordination with Project Director to simulate college experience.

$17.44 per hour

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required in education, social work, counseling, higher education administration, or related field.
• Experience working with high school and/or college students, low income, first-generation, underrepresented, and/or educationally disadvantaged student populations.
• Experience designing and facilitating educational workshops, programming, or group activities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of or experience working with U.S. Department of Labor TRIO programs.
• Experience with program evaluation, data collection, databases, and reporting systems.
• Experience conducting outreach and recruitment in school or community-based settings.
• Demonstrated commitment to educational access, equity, and student success.
• At least two (2) years of experience working in a high school and/or higher education setting.
