Job Description:
The receptionist serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
Essential Functions:
- Answer phone calls and direct them appropriately
- Check patient into the electronic medical record
- Ensure patient packet questionnaire is complete, if not assist patient in completing
- Address patients questions or needs
- Review M.D. visit orders to manage and expedite ordered care (e.g., referrals, follow up visits, DME orders, test orders and medication orders)
- Print paperwork for patient education and/or test instructions
- Check patient out of the electronic medical record at completion of visit
- Supports goals of department/organization. Works as a team player by enhancing team effectiveness, supporting, and assisting team members, the department and/or the organization
Other Functions:
- Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
Additional Job Description:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)
Experience:
- One(1) year healthcare experience (preferred)
Job Competency:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role:
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Must understand and be able to perform professional phone etiquette
Language Ability:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems
Computer Skills:
- Must be proficient with basic computer skills
