Role summary: The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages refrigeration units, and coordinates field teams to optimize system performance. The position requires detailed documentation, vendor coordination, and adherence to regulatory protocols. Additionally, the Senior Technician provides hands-on training, supports critical business needs through on-call duties, and drives continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies and refining operational processes to meet evolving organizational goals. About the team: The General Facilities Maintenance team ensures Walmart’s facilities operate efficiently and safely through preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and thorough inspections. Collaborating with internal and external partners, the team coordinates resources and budgets to deliver timely, high-quality service. Emphasizing clear communication, accountability, and continuous improvement, they support operational goals by addressing facility needs and maintaining equipment functionality. Their commitment to safety and excellence upholds Walmart’s standards, fostering a well-maintained environment that supports the success of all stakeholders. What you'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
- Manage refrigerant handling, inventory control, and vendor relationships in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating skill development.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support critical business needs outside regular hours.
- Maintain company vehicles and ensure adherence to safety and operational policies.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and control panels.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues in commercial and industrial environments.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Effective coordination of service calls, parts inventory management, and vendor relationships to meet operational priorities.
- Ability to manage on-call responsibilities and respond promptly to critical service needs.
- Skilled in documenting work orders with detailed notes and photographic evidence.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00*
*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration. Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling. Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman. 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience. Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report. Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years. Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
