Role summary: The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems. This role ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards while managing preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and longevity. The position involves coordinating field teams, mentoring technicians, and overseeing service operations to meet business priorities. The Senior Technician also supports special projects, manages parts inventory, and participates in on-call rotations to address critical needs, contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence within facility services. About the team: The Facility Services team ensures the safety, functionality, and efficiency of equipment and facilities through skilled maintenance and repairs. This team applies expertise in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC/R systems to manage work orders, coordinate contractors, and maintain compliance with regulations. Members lead preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and support continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and providing hands-on training. Operating with professionalism and integrity, the team delivers reliable facility services that uphold company standards and contribute to a safe, well-maintained environment across multiple locations. What you'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial equipment.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician skill development.
- Maintain parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service schedules to meet business priorities.
- Participate in on-call rotation to support critical operational needs outside regular hours.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and control panels.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial environments.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and performance feedback.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Proficiency in managing parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinating service calls to meet business priorities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to support process improvements and cross-functional initiatives.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00*
*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration. Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling. Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman. 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience. Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report. Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years. Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration., Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)., Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams., Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment., Prior work experience with Glycol and C02 systems.
