Who we’re looking for:

Wolfspeed’s Epi Equipment Engineering and Maintenance team is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to perform preventative and proactive maintenance tasks on production equipment at our Silicon Drive Durham, NC location. Maintenance Specialists interact directly with operations, process, equipment engineering, and other groups to meet department and Wolfspeed goals. Candidates working in this area must exhibit and maintain safe working practices. The ideal candidate for these positions are individuals who are looking to gain hands-on mechanical and electrical experience with the goal of progressing into an Equipment Maintenance Technician pathway at the company.

This posting is for a position that will directly support operations at the Silicon Drive Durham, NC location.

Wafer Operations Equipment Maintenance Specialists will support a 12-hour manufacturing day or night shift on a Front End or Back End shift pattern. The working hours are from 6:45 AM – 7:00 PM for dayshift or 6:45 PM – 7:00 AM for nightshift. We are currently filling positions on the following shift(s):

  • Front End Days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, every other Wednesday)
  • Front End Nights (Every other Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday)
  • Back End Days (Every other Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
  • Back End Nights (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every other Saturday)

The Day-to-Day:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on tools in accordance with equipment specifications
  • Maintain detailed records of any maintenance performed through paper and electronic checklists
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment according to operating manuals, schematics, blueprints, etc.
  • Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform equipment checks
  • Consistently perform repeatable tasks to improve up-time or overall equipment performance (as needed), including changing filters, o-rings/seals, brushes and other consumables
  • Support the company’s 5S program for a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing area
  • Equipment spare parts support (repair and replacement part delivery, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear a respirator, including successful completion of any required medical evaluation and fit testing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to chest height.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, including shifts exceeding 8 hours.
  • Ability to periodically kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces as required.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.

This Job is Right for You if You Have:

  • High school education or GED
  • Working familiarity of electrical systems with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals
  • Mechanical aptitude - because of the uniqueness of the equipment, you will not possess prior experience on these tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Wolfspeed Technician Certification Program (TCP) graduates preferred
