Job Description:

Shift: 7:00pm - 7:00am

• Assembles and maintains physical patient charts from admission through discharge.
• Serves as a liaison between patients, families, staff, and medical personnel.
• Receives and directs patients and visitors, answers routine inquiries, and processes referrals and consults.
• Maintains unit census records, daily assignment sheets, and updates admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Informs Nursing Supervisor of bed availability and facilitates patient flow.
• Manages downtime forms and chart packets, supports staff during downtime, and prepares forms for scanning.
• Projects a positive, friendly, and helpful demeanor while interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
• Maintains an organized, clutter-free, welcoming environment in the nursing station and performs environmental rounds every 2 hours.
• Provides customer service rounds, responds to patient requests within scope of practice, and performs hourly rounds.
• Answers intercom calls, acknowledges patients by name, and responds to bedside requests within scope of practice.
• Assists with battery changes, lead placement of telemetry, new patient room setup, orientation, and patient transport needs.
• Manages delivery and retrieval of patient trays, serves as a resource for medical and nursing staff, and ensures accurate patient location in the computer.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Computer proficiency [Required]
• Mature judgment and the ability to handle confidential information within healthcare organization guidelines and applicable regulations. [Required]
• Ability to communicate verbally in English and in written form with persons of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner. [Required]
• Critical thinking / problem-solving skills. [Required]
• Teamwork, tact, and conflict resolution. [Required]
• Organizational, multitasking and prioritization skills. [Required]
• Proficiency in using Computer System, Patient Call Bell System, Fax Machine, Pneumatic Tube, Telephone System, Copy Machine, Phones. [Required]
• Previous experience in a medical setting and knowledge of medical terminology [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• Previous experience in a medical setting and knowledge of medical terminology [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) [Preferred]

Pay Range:

$16.50 - $26.41
