Veterinary Technician - Mellina Animal Hospital

Located in Fort Worth, Texas, Mellina Animal Hospital has proudly served the community for more than 40 years. The full-service small-animal hospital provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats, including wellness and preventive medicine, diagnostics and imaging, surgery, orthopedics, dentistry, and same-day urgent care. The team is committed to providing compassionate, individualized care while nurturing the bond between pets and their families. Mellina also offers additional services such as grooming, boarding, and an on-site pharmacy, making it a convenient resource for families throughout the Fort Worth area.

We are actively seeking a compassionate and highly motivated Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our busy 3 Doctor practice. This positive-thinking individual will be capable of wearing many hats.

The ideal candidate will:

• Actively support Veterinarians and other staff in daily patient and client care.
• Be an active listener, paying close attention to details.
• Observe the behavior and conditions of animals.
• Actively demonstrate dependability and importance of work to clients, supervisors, and other employees.
• Participate in cross-training and willing to work in all areas of the hospital when needed.
• Easily adapt to situations that arise such as emergencies, taking initiative, and stay calm in high-pressure situations.
• Prepare animals for surgery, monitoring vitals throughout and following surgery.
• Perform basic in-house lab tests
• Assess patients and update computer records
• Administer medications IV, IM, SQ, and PO.
• Knowledge of vaccine protocols
• Perform accurate blood draws 75% of the time.
• IV catheter placement proficient
• Uphold a clean work environment by following infectious disease protocols, handling bio-medical waste, and medical waste appropriately.
