Mid-Level Reengineering Specialist

Overview

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Mid-Level Reengineering Specialist to support business process reengineering, workflow modernization, and operational improvement initiatives. The Mid-Level Reengineering Specialist will work with stakeholders and technical teams to assess existing processes, identify inefficiencies, develop improved workflows, and support implementation of practical and scalable solutions.

Job Description

The Mid-Level Reengineering Specialist will conduct structured reviews of existing workflows, facilitate portions of stakeholder discovery activities, identify process bottlenecks and root causes, and contribute to the design of improved future-state processes.

This position will also identify opportunities for automation and digital tools, develop operational documentation and training materials, participate in pilot testing, analyze performance data, and support refinement and implementation of redesigned workflows.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience supporting business process reengineering or process improvement initiatives
• Experience conducting current-state (“as-is”) workflow assessments
• Experience contributing to future-state (“to-be”) workflow design
• Experience participating in or facilitating stakeholder discovery sessions
• Experience identifying process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and root causes
• Experience developing process maps and workflow documentation
• Experience identifying opportunities for automation or digital process improvements
• Experience developing SOPs, workflow charts, roles and responsibility matrices, templates, or job aids
• Experience participating in pilot testing or implementation activities
• Ability to collect and analyze operational performance data
• Strong analytical, documentation, facilitation, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Ability to ensure work aligns with applicable policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements

Desired Skills

• Experience supporting federal government or similarly regulated organizations
• Experience with business process reengineering or continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience evaluating workflow automation or digital tools
• Experience measuring cycle time, error rates, throughput, or similar operational indicators
• Experience supporting organizational change and solution adoption
• Experience working across multiple departments, offices, or functional areas

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct structured reviews of existing (“as-is”) workflows
• Support and facilitate stakeholder discovery sessions
• Document end-to-end process activities and handoffs
• Identify bottlenecks, delays, redundant steps, and operational inefficiencies
• Analyze and document root causes across multiple functions or offices
• Contribute to the development of future-state (“to-be”) workflows
• Streamline process steps and reduce administrative burden
• Improve clarity of roles, responsibilities, and process ownership
• Identify opportunities for automation, digital forms, and integrated tools
• Develop SOPs, workflow charts, roles and responsibility matrices, templates, and job aids
• Participate in pilot testing of redesigned workflows
• Gather operational performance indicators and user feedback
• Analyze metrics such as cycle time, error frequency, or other process measures
• Support refinement of workflows based on testing results
• Assist with implementation and adoption of approved process improvements
• Ensure deliverables align with applicable policies, internal controls, and federal requirements
