Job Description

The Financial Systems Analyst serves as a critical link between Finance, business operations, and technology, translating financial and operational requirements into scalable system solutions while supporting the reliability, integrity, and continuous improvement of Brightspeed's financial systems.

The position will serve as the liaison to the IT team, ensuring efficient maintenance and operation of financial systems, providing optimum functionality, and ensuring data integrity and security. You will provide useful system output, reports, and data analysis, and identify and implement process improvement opportunities and provide documentation and training for users of financial systems.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and communication skills with a deep understanding of finance and billing processes, business requirements management, and agile delivery frameworks. This individual ensures that IT solutions effectively meet business needs, improve efficiency, and drive measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Systems Operations & Production Support

• Provide functional support for Finance applications and business processes, partnering with IT to investigate and resolve production issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis of system, billing, accounting, interface, and data issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support financial reconciliations and data-integrity monitoring across upstream and downstream systems.
• Assess financial and operational impacts of incidents, defects, system changes, and releases.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend sustainable systems, processes, or control improvements.
• Support SAP S/4HANA GRC access monitoring, periodic access reviews, and remediation activities to ensure appropriate system access and compliance with internal control requirements.

Business Analysis & Requirements Definition

• Partner with business leaders to understand strategic objectives and translate them into clear, measurable business requirements.
• Coordinate end-to-end business requirements process—facilitating workshops, interviews, and documentation with Finance Business Units.
• Develop and maintain business requirement documents (BRDs) and process flows to inform IT development.
• Ensure alignment between business needs and platform capabilities across multiple systems (SAP – S/4 HANA, BRIM, CABS, RAR), Data Analytics, etc.).
• Identify business process gaps and recommend process improvements or automation opportunities.

Collaboration with IT & Platform Teams

• Partner with Platform Owners and Product Managers to translate business requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira or equivalent tools.
• Facilitate backlog grooming and prioritization sessions with IT, ensuring readiness for sprints and releases.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Function as the key liaison between IT and Finance departments, fostering effective communication and collaboration to ensure that financial systems are maintained, updated, and aligned with business goals.
• Collaborate with developers and QA testers to validate functionality against requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Support issue resolution, defect triage, and clarification throughout development and testing.

Cross-Functional Communication & Governance

• Serve as the primary liaison between finance business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure transparency, alignment, and timely decision-making.
• Serve as finance liaison for cross-functional projects across the enterprise and collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure success.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to finance business and IT stakeholders through structured updates and governance meetings.
• Support project governance documentation, approvals, and change management processes.
• Ensure traceability from strategic goals through requirements, design, and delivery.

Testing & Validation

• Develop and execute end-to-end financial test scenarios, including positive, negative, exception, accounting, reconciliation, and downstream validation scenarios.
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet defined business and financial requirements.
• Document test results, manage defects, and partner with IT and business teams to support resolution prior to deployment.
• Validate financial results across integrated systems and confirm transactions are accurately reflected in downstream accounting, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Perform post-release validation and partner with business owners to confirm expected outcomes, adoption, and success metrics.

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related business field required.
• 5 - 10 years of experience as a Financial Systems Analyst or similar role in a technology-driven organization.
• 5+ years of experience in operational accounting and as an SAP Finance key user
• 5+ years of experience in project management, financial systems integration, and cross-functional program delivery.
• Experience developing business requirements, functional specifications, test cases, and release plans.
• Understanding of Agile frameworks, user story creation, backlog management, and grooming.
• Managing multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong organizational skills and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into actionable project plans.
• Proficiency with project management deliverables including business requirements and testing tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA, Zephyr).
• Ability to challenge the status quo and proactively drive process improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred systems experience: SAP S/4HANA Finance, BRIM, RAR, CABS, or comparable ERP/billing platforms.
