The School of STEM Department of Engineering at Vermont State University invites applications for a Part-Time teaching position for Spring 2027 (January 19 – May 14, 2027) at the VTSU Randolph Campus.
The course to be taught is ARE 4720 - ARE Senior Project
1 hour of Lecture & 3 hours of Studio Instruction per week
4 teaching credits per semester
This capstone course is part of the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering Technology degree program. Students apply their knowledge and skills to a commercial-scale building or infrastructure-related project based on preliminary architectural plans, an existing structure, or a similar project. Projects may include the preparation of engineering drawings, design or evaluation documentation, and presentations addressing electrical/lighting, mechanical, structural, and/or energy systems. Students may also develop an integrated sustainable design or evaluation addressing multiple building systems.
This course (co-taught with a full-time instructor from the AET program) focuses on guiding students through the development and completion of their capstone projects through weekly student-instructor sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree or better in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience in the field. Content expertise in building environmental (especially HVAC) and energy systems, including building envelopes, is required.
Teaching experience at the college level is preferred, as is professional experience in building design, engineering, or related fields.

Salary:
Based on credits previously taught at campus-based colleges within the Vermont State College System per the VSC-VSCPTF Bargaining Unit Agreement.
Budgeted Wage for this Position:
Faculty Load 4 Workload credits; minimum starting salary is $1648 per workload credit.
