Job Description

We're looking for an experienced leader to join our team as a Direct Install Program Manager, owning our Direct-to-Customer Direct Install offering.

Direct Install currently operates with meaningful variation across regions, and this role is responsible for bringing consistency, structure, and operational rigor to how the program runs nationally. Done well, this work supports a substantial growth opportunity for CLEAResult over the next several years. You'll partner closely with regional operations and leadership, engineering, delivery services, national accounts, business development, and utility clients to drive that consistency and scale the program's reach. The role calls for persistence and sound judgment: stakeholders won't always align quickly, and progress often depends on working through objections methodically rather than waiting for consensus. The subject matter spans utility program rules, field operations, engineering, and customer economics; candidates aren't expected to arrive as experts in every area, but should have the aptitude and initiative to build that expertise quickly.

You are a great fit if you can…

  • Direct all phases of Direct Install programs from inception through completion, owning cost, implementation, and performance across one or more concurrent programs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams — typically spanning engineering, operations, national accounts, and analytics — to execute projects across multiple regions, utilities, and programs.
  • Manage measure eligibility requirements and lead utility approvals in partnership with Regional Leadership and Business Development.
  • Evaluate customer and site-specific requirements to determine appropriate Direct Install measures and program participation.
  • Participate in the negotiation of contracts and contract changes, and coordinate business plans, work statements, budgets, and financial terms.
  • Facilitate project execution by coordinating schedules, site access, materials, and installation activities with Operations and National Accounts.
  • Develop new business and expand program scope with existing utility clients, working with National Accounts to build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Establish milestones, monitor adherence to program plans, and resolve problems by reallocating resources or renegotiating contractual terms as needed.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for program activity, leading program review sessions on cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Analyze problem and opportunity areas across assigned programs, evaluate options, and make recommendations that improve profitability and viability.
  • Identify and drive process improvements that support scalability as Direct Install expands into new regions and programs.

Exciting candidates will have…

  • 5-8 years of program or project management experience
  • A tenacious, resilient approach to stakeholder management — comfortable facing resistance and pushing projects forward without giving up.
  • Enough working knowledge of utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs and direct install measures to lead credibly today, plus the drive to build deeper expertise quickly.
  • Experience managing programs with real complexity and risk (new clients, new products, multi-region delivery) from planning through execution.
  • Sales-adjacent instincts: comfort negotiating, influencing, and creating movement even when the org chart doesn't give you direct authority.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams of 7-15 people in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tracking tools.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strongly preferred experience/qualifications…

  • PMP certification.
  • MBA holders, including recent graduates.
  • Direct experience with utility clients and energy efficiency program implementation.
  • Knowledge of commercial and industrial energy efficiency technologies and measures.
  • Experience supporting multi-region program delivery and operations.
