The Units (J71, J72, and J73) are fast-paced, telemetry-monitored units with a total of 73 beds, providing specialized care to a diverse cardiovascular patient population. These units care for patients with conditions such as myocardial infarction, post-cardiac interventions, chronic heart failure, dysrhythmias, and pulmonary hypertension. Patients range in acuity and may include both ambulatory and higher-acuity individuals requiring close monitoring. Caregivers work in a highly collaborative and supportive team environment known for its strong teamwork and welcoming culture.
J7-1 Cardiac Stepdown is a 25-bed unit (J7-3 is a 24-bed unit), and caregivers may float between units after orientation. On night shifts, staffing typically includes six RNs and two PCNAs, with nurses supporting one another in patient care. Patients can present with a wide range of acuity levels—from bedridden to ambulatory—and may not always appear overtly ill despite having complex cardiac conditions.
