Role Overview:

Coupang is seeking a Law Clerk to support its legal team in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will contribute to contracts management and legal operations initiatives while assisting with the structuring, drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts supporting Coupang’s U.S. entities. You will also provide legal research and compliance support across a variety of business and corporate functions. Reporting to the Senior Associate General Counsel, this position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has strong judgment, a keen interest in contract law, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to balance legal risk with practical business objectives while collaborating effectively as part of a team.

What you will do:

• Support legal operations and contract management activities by maintaining contract records, uploading and organizing agreements in Levelpath, validating data, and identifying inconsistencies for resolution.

• Draft, review, analyze, and support the negotiation of commercial agreements while helping business partners address contract-related issues and requirements.

• Provide legal support for U.S. eCommerce operations by reviewing supply and logistics agreements, assessing supplier insurance requirements, and addressing compliance and regulatory matters.

• Conduct legal research and deliver practical guidance to business stakeholders on a broad range of legal and compliance issues in collaboration with the U.S. legal team and outside counsel.

• Lead or support legal projects and process improvement initiatives by maintaining contract templates, clause libraries, risk matrices, and other internal legal resources.

Basic Qualifications

• Qualified legal student in the U.S. with 1+ years of legal experience, which may include law school experience

• Strong interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of employees, corporate departments, and senior management

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Sound judgment with the ability to identify legal issues and escalate questions as appropriate

• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing business priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to deliver creative, thoughtful, and business-oriented solutions that appropriately balance legal risk and business growth

• Strong intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn new subject matter and take on additional responsibilities

• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while managing competing priorities

Pay

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position is $40/hour in the Seattle market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
