About the team and the role:
As a Technical Lead – Traffic at eBay, you will lead efforts to optimize traffic flow, improve system performance, and support scalable and secure network operations.
You will apply your expertise in networking, traffic management, Kubernetes, cyber security, caching, and Points of Presence (PoP) optimization to develop high-performance solutions. You will work with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical innovation, including open-source projects and patent creation.
This is a full-time role with opportunities for professional growth and access to modern tools and technologies.
What you will accomplish:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of solutions that manage network traffic efficiently and support scalable network operations.
- Improve network performance through caching strategies and Points of Presence (PoP) optimization.
- Develop robust, high-performance applications using C/C++ and Go.
- Deploy and manage scalable systems using Kubernetes.
- Strengthen network security and observability by implementing measures that protect infrastructure and monitor system health.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate networking solutions and mentor junior engineers.
- Contribute to technical innovation through open-source projects and opportunities to develop patented technologies.
What you will bring:
- 8+ years of experience in networking, traffic management, cyber security, or related areas.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Go, with experience in low-level Linux networking, Kubernetes, caching strategies, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Envoy for traffic management is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical leadership skills, including experience working in large-scale environments.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects, working with Agile methodologies, or creating patents is valued, as are relevant certifications.
- Familiarity with Java or other frameworks is also beneficial.
