Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).

Echodyne is seeking a Software Engineer II - Manufacturing Test, to design and develop test infrastructure, automated tests, and software-controlled test equipment for systems incorporating Echodyne’s industry-leading radars.

In this role, you will work with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to develop reliable and maintainable manufacturing and system-test solutions. You will create Python software that interfaces with radar products, test fixtures, laboratory equipment, and manufacturing systems; collects traceable test results; and helps engineers efficiently diagnose failures.

You will independently own assigned software components while collaborating with software, radar, hardware, and manufacturing engineers on broader system designs. This role requires strong software-development fundamentals, practical systems knowledge, and an understanding of the reliability, repeatability, and maintainability required for production test systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and optimize high-assurance, user-centric software test components using Python.
• Participate in design and code reviews for new and existing systems, provide constructive feedback and contribute to high quality software.
• Contribute to improvements in coding practices, testing and development tools.
• Support testing efforts for your team; collaborate with partner teams as needed.
• Work alongside radar, software, hardware and manufacturing test engineers to implement tests to meet required functionality.
• Develop reliable, repeatable, and maintainable automated tests for manufacturing and system-level verification.
• Design software interfaces for test equipment, radar hardware, fixtures, and manufacturing systems.
• Implement test-result collection, traceability, logging, and diagnostic capabilities.
• Investigate test failures and collaborate with manufacturing, hardware, and radar engineers to distinguish product defects from test-system issues.
• Support deployment, maintenance, calibration, and continuous improvement of manufacturing test stations.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• Experience developing production-quality software, automated test applications, or manufacturing test systems.
• Proficiency developing maintainable Python applications.
• Experience designing software that interfaces with hardware, external devices, or test equipment.
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and sound software-engineering practices.
• Experience with Git-based collaborative development, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and merge-conflict resolution.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests and diagnosing failures across software and hardware boundaries.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across software, hardware, radar, and manufacturing teams.
• Ability to independently deliver well-defined technical work while seeking guidance on broader architectural decisions.

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills)

• Experience leading small technical efforts or mentoring junior engineers is a plus.
• Experience with one or more common communication protocols such as UART, SPI, QSPI, I2C, USB, SCPI, VISA or TCP/UDP IP.
• Data analysis for test limits, yield, and failure trends
• Experience packaging and deploying software using container technologies such as Docker; container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes is a plus.
• Experience developing tests for electronic RF hardware subsystems. (Radar, Electronic Warfare, Cellular, or other Wireless Technology) Experience interfacing and automation of lab test equipment including: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, spectrum analyzers. Familiar with DevOps concepts, continuous integration, continuous deployment.
• Experience developing or integrating multi-language software systems using Python and languages such as C++, C#, or Rust.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or equivalent military / industry experience
• 3+ years, or equivalent demonstrated experience, of experience designing, implementing, integrating, and maintaining production-quality software, test automation, or manufacturing test systems.

The expected annual salary range for this role is

$114,330—$170,980 USD
