Overview The AP Market Development team is looking for a Director to lead high-priority transformation engagements across Asia Pacific markets. The role will partner with the EVP Market Development Lead, Regional Market Development Leaders Transformation, market leadership, product teams, and cross-functional partners to diagnose structural growth barriers, shape actionable transformation plans, and drive execution of complex, time-bound initiatives where additional regional focus and orchestration are required. Role • Lead end-to-end diagnosis, planning, and execution of selected market transformation engagements, translating ambiguous business challenges into clear workplans, milestones, governance, and measurable outcomes. • Partner with country, regional, product, commercial, finance, legal, and delivery teams to structure solutions for non-standard opportunities, special situations, and complex market growth priorities. • Develop executive-ready materials, business cases, decision papers, and progress updates to support senior leadership alignment and decision-making. • Drive disciplined engagement governance, including intake assessment, prioritization, issue escalation, stakeholder alignment, and tracking of financial and strategic impact. • Provide hands-on leadership to cross-functional project teams, ensuring accountability, pace, and quality of execution across multiple markets and workstreams. • Identify repeatable insights, operating model improvements, and capability gaps that can strengthen how Mastercard addresses complex market transformation opportunities over time. All About You The ideal candidate for this position should: • Bring strong strategic problem-solving skills and the ability to structure complex, ambiguous business issues into practical plans and executive decisions. • Demonstrate strong understanding of payments, commercial models, market dynamics, customer needs, and Mastercard’s products, services, and operating model. • Have proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives, transformation projects, strategic planning, business development, or complex commercial execution. • Be a confident communicator and influencer, able to build credibility with senior stakeholders and align teams without relying solely on direct authority. • Show strong execution discipline, analytical judgment, stakeholder management, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced regional environment. • Operate with high integrity, curiosity, ownership, and a collaborative mindset consistent with Mastercard’s culture and values.
