Ozark Center - Will's Place / Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Job Description Summary: This position will be for Will's Place, providing behavioral health services for individuals up to age 25. The Advance Practice Nurse (APN) provides psychiatric care to patients. APN provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance abuse and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. APN demonstrates a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. APN will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. APN works under a collaborative agreement with a Center psychiatrist and, administratively, reports to the Director of Adult Psychiatric Practices.
Responsibilities:
- Interprets and evaluates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Administers, dispenses, and prescribes drugs and provides treatment within the APN’s scope of practice and consistent with the APN’s skills, training, and competence.
- May administer and dispense controlled substances on a case-by-case consistent with collaborative agreement with Center psychiatrist.
- Provides triage telephone calls and provides consultation.
- Provides counseling and instruction regarding patient problems.
- Completes all clinical documentation in a timely fashion as prescribed in policy and procedure
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between patient visits.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- When seeing a patient with conditions which are beyond the education, training, competency or scope of practice of the APN, the APN will consult with or refer the patient to the collaborating Physician. All significantly abnormal lab and EKG results will be discussed with the Physician.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Normal office environment.
- Typical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.
- Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
- Requires ability to remain calm during stressful events, to occasionally work irregular hours, and work with exasperated individuals.
- Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
- TB test upon hire.
