The IT Support & Applications Technician is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting the organization's internal business applications, websites, integrations, and technology solutions. This role focuses heavily on software development, application enhancement, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment while also providing advanced technical support for business-critical systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Software Development & Enhancement • Design, develop, test, and maintain internal web applications, business systems, and APIs. • Develop new functionality and enhancements based on business and user requirements. • Write, review, and maintain clean, scalable, and efficient code using modern development practices. • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. • Create and consume RESTful APIs and integrate internal and third-party systems. • Optimize application performance, reliability, and user experience. • Utilize source control and deployment tools to manage application releases and code changes.
Application Support & Troubleshooting • Investigate and resolve application defects, software bugs, and production issues. • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for internally developed applications. • Monitor application functionality and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. • Assist with deployment validation, post-release testing, and production support activities.
Analysis, Testing & Documentation • Gather business requirements and participate in developing scopes of work for technology initiatives. • Perform manual and functional testing to ensure software quality and performance. • Document system functionality, technical specifications, processes, and application changes. • Conduct user demonstrations and collaborate with stakeholders to validate solutions.
Technical Support • Provide support for user account administration, software installations, and workstation-related issues as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field preferred. • 2+ years of experience in software development, application support, web development, or similar technical role preferred. • Experience developing and maintaining web applications and APIs.
Technical Skills • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, and user account administration. • Familiarity with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues. • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, or other web/application development technologies preferred. • Understanding of software testing, debugging, and deployment processes. • Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and platforms quickly. • Preferred: VB.NET, .NET Framework, AJAX, ASP.NET Web Forms, SSMS, IIS, Postman, deployment tools, and database design concepts.
