Job Description Summary

The Solution Architect – Plant Controls is responsible for leading the technical definition, alignment, and standardization of controls solutions for Plant Controls projects within the HDNU Controls team.

This role drives development of standardized, competitive, and executable controls solutions that align with customer requirements, product strategy, project schedule, budget, and execution needs. The role works across ITO, engineering, product line, and execution teams to ensure technical clarity, risk reduction, and effective handoff to project execution.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead definition of Plant controls solution architecture for assigned projects.
  • Align controls solutions with project scope, customer requirements, schedule, budget, and execution strategy.
  • Drive use of standard marketing features, standard controls libraries, and approved design practices.
  • Identify and resolve technical gaps, risks, and non-standard requirements.
  • Support controls scope definition, OTR cost projection, and execution readiness.
  • Provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams including ST, HRSG, Generator, Electrical, Plant Bop, ITO, and Operations.
  • Partner with internal Controls stakeholders including Global Design Leader, System Architect, and Execution Controls Lead.
  • Promote standardization, simplification, and reuse across projects.
  • Support smooth transition from front-end solution definition into execution.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, system engineering, application engineering, plant integration, or related technical roles.
  • Experience with power generation systems such as Steam Turbine, HRSG, Generator, Electrical systems, or Plant BOP.

  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments with multiple technical interfaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and align technical solutions across functions and disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of controls architecture, system integration, and plant-level engineering interfaces.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Master’s degree in engineering as an advantage or related technical field.
  • Experience in combined cycle power plant projects.
  • Experience supporting both ITO and OTR/project execution phases.
  • Strong understanding of standard product application, reusable controls libraries, and modular solution design.
  • Strong understanding of controls architecture, system integration, and plant-level engineering interfaces.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with GE Vernova tools, processes, product structures, and engineering governance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
