TITLE: FSQS Compliance Manager

LOCATION: Onsite in Avon, Ohio 5 days a week

COMP RANGE: $103,000 - $140,000 / year plus bonus

Custom Culinary, a subsidiary of Griffith Foods, is hiring an FSQS Compliance Manager for the Avon, Ohio facility. As the FSQS Compliance Manager, you will provide strategic and tactical leadership for the Custom Culinary® business in FSQS and facilitate compliance with regulatory, global GFSI such as BRC, customer and Griffith Foods requirements. You will provide leadership to closely align efforts and measure and improve performance in all aspects of FSQS and align compliance with standards and customer expectations.

This is your opportunity to be responsible for organizational development and work with Director FSQS to ensure that appropriate food safety structure is in place to support business with global best practices.

As an FSQS Compliance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing 2 direct reports and 4 indirect reports.
  • Plans and oversees external co-mans to comply with Griffith Foods standards.
  • Member of the Custom Culinary FSQS Team and ensures alignment of FSQS expectations across business functions and manufacturing plant based FSQS teams.
  • Oversees, tracks, and compares performance of the business regarding performance in the areas of raw material violations, complaints, errors, audits and provides direction for improvement.
  • Manage site visits and audits by customers, regulatory agencies, and certification bodies, and ensures all corrective actions are appropriate and communicated.
  • Technical expertise of liquids manufacturing such as retort, acid/acidified and cooling curves for not shelf stable finished product(s).
  • Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Product Development teams to ensure compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with external regulatory consultants and industry partners while serving as an internal compliance resource.

  • Responsible for hiring, discipline, performance review and overall management of staff.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s of Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related degree.
  • At least 10+ years’ experience in the food industry with 3 or more in the FSQS function.
  • At least 5 years’ direct people management including leadership, coaching and development.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with FDA and USDA regulations, pathogen control, allergen control, third party audit and GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative).
  • Willingness to be onsite 5 days a week in Avon, Ohio.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the US up to 10% as needed for business purposes.
  • Candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

This role is affiliated to the Avon, Ohio location, and candidates for this role need to reside within a commutable distance of that location and will be required to come into that location. You may be asked to travel to other locations periodically for meetings.
