Job Description:
Job Summary:
Administers and coordinates family services and program activities in dependency., mental illness, youth development, or physical or developmental disability programs. Establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and organizations in the community in order to meet community needs and prevent duplication of services. Evaluates the provision and quality of recommended services to assure compliance with program requirements and policies. Guides and oversees the distribution of resources for family services. Organizes community stakeholders and resources to identify proactive and effective solutions. Troubleshoots day-to-day operational and consumer and family-related problems or issues.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibility 1: Under broad supervision, will provide family counseling services, referral services and evaluation to assigned clients.
Building Strong Partnerships:
Family engagement staff work to establish and maintain positive relationships between families and the juvenile justice system. This includes fostering communication, trust, and collaboration.
Supporting Youth and Families:
They provide guidance, resources, and support to families, helping them understand the juvenile justice system and navigate the processes involved.
Facilitating Family Involvement:
Family engagement staff actively encourage and support family involvement in decision-making, case planning, and service delivery.
Promoting Family-Centered Approaches:
They advocate for a family-centered approach to juvenile justice, recognizing that families are the most powerful influence on youth's well-being.
Providing Training and Education:
They offer training and education to both staff and families on communication skills, effective collaboration, and accessing resources.
Connecting Families to Resources:
Family engagement staff connect families with community-based resources and services that can support their needs and the needs of their youth.
Responsibility 2: Performs and/or directs intake services to youth.
Responsibility 3: Participates as management team member.
Responsibility 4: Directs or completes mental health assessments of youth.
Responsibility 5: Provides therapeutic counseling to individuals, groups and families, to effect positive change in the youth’s behavior and/or social situations.
Responsibility 6: Leads or participates as a member of a treatment team to identify youths’ and the youth’s family strengths, resources, and psychological challenges to develop and monitor an effective plan of treatment.
Responsibility 7: Prepares and submits required reports and other documentation.
Responsibility 8: Engages in clinical supervision to facilitate development of clinical knowledge, skills and professional integrity of mental health services provided to youth.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND four (4) years of job-related experience,; or two (2) years of experience at the lower leave Social Svcs Program Coord 2 (SSP031) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions require eligibility for licensure.
Work Schedule: This position will be required to work evenings and weekends.
