Start your career in public service The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is seeking an applicant for the position of Provider Management Monitoring Specialist in our Office of Provider Management. The office location will be determined by the Unit Director with consideration given to the candidates domicile; however, ideal candidates will be based out of the South Georgia or Coastal Georgia areas. This position will travel (to include overnight) about 75% of the time. A valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle are required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Our Monitoring Specialist is a child welfare professional providing oversight, consultation, and technical assistance to Child Placing Agencies (CPA) and Child Caring Institutions (CCI) contracted with DFCS for the provision of Room, Board and Watchful Oversight (RBWO) services throughout the state.

• Performs operational, records and safety reviews and monitors RBWO providers for compliance to contractual obligations, RBWO Minimum Standards and other child welfare objectives focused on the safety, permanency and well-being of children.
• Maintains close and routine interactions with various agencies and/or community partners.
• Assesses the needs of children and caregivers to assign appropriate per diem rates, program designations and to make decisions as to the appropriateness of respite, over-capacity placements and other placement related issues.
• Provide technical assistance and support to DFCS case managers to assist in identifying appropriate RBWO placements and understanding/troubleshooting services regarding RBWO providers.
• Conduct monitoring visits to oversee the quality-of-service delivery programs in CCIs, CPAs, and of individual CPA foster homes; follow-up on incident reports/complaints/ investigations and make crucial decisions regarding the safety of DFCS children placed with CPA and CCI providers; assist county DFCS staff in making placement decisions for children in CPA and CCI placements; assess children to determine appropriate Program Designation (i.e. Maximum Watchful Oversight, Medically Fragile)
• Other duties as assigned.

THIS POSITION IS BASED OUT OF SOUTH GEORGIA OR COSTAL GEORGIA

Core Competencies:

• Excellent communication skills (demeanor, verbal, written, critical thinking/judgment, assessment, etc).

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:

• Behavioral Science degree and 5 years’ experience in Child Protection Services, Foster Care, and/or a Child Caring Institution or Child Placing Agency.

OR

• Master’s degree in a Behavioral Science and 24 months experience in Child Protection Services, Foster Care, and/or a Child Caring Institution or Child Placing Agency.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience; or two (2) years experience at the lower level Social Svcs Prgm Consultant 1 (SSP040) or position equivalent.
