The Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas established in 1980 for the purpose of discovering and appraising property for ad valorem tax purposes for each taxing unit within the boundaries of the district. The district has approximately 1.9 million parcels of property to assess each year with a total market value of nearly $905 billion. The appraisal district in Harris County is the largest in Texas, serving more than 600 taxing units, and one of the largest appraisal districts in the United States.

We are in search of interns for the following divisions:

  • Information & Assistance
  • Geographic Information System

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • High quality professional day-to-day customer service
  • Assisting with daily tasks related to department
  • Learning about the organization’s policies, procedures, and culture
  • Performing administrative tasks
  • Observing and learning from experienced staff members

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with excellent written and verbal communications
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with a general understanding of data analysis techniques
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree

Additional Information:

  • You will participate in training during the first week of your internship. This training program will expose you to our culture and provide you with a knowledge base to draw upon throughout the remainder of your internship and beyond
  • Compensation – Interns receive a competitive hour rate
  • Rewards – Interns who successfully complete the program may be considered for full-time employment after graduation
