HLA Lab Coordinator

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00a-4:30p The HLA laboratory is a high complexity clinical laboratory that primarily performs testing for the LVHN Transplant program. This position provides support for the HLA laboratory in all non- clinical operations including customer service, supply chain, and specimen management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. (These duties are the core tasks and responsibilities of the position) Receives and accessions patient blood samples. Organizes and reconciles purchasing accounts. Communicates with dialysis units, transplant team, and patients. Monitors and orders reagents and supplies. Maintains inventory database upon arrival of reagents and supplies. Updates and maintains patient database. Sends supplies to dialysis centers and patients. Aliquots and stores patient samples according to protocol. Provides training for new staff. Education/Experience: High school diploma/GED with 1 year clinical laboratory support or 1 year RCE insurance and registration. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Convey a skilled phone manner for handling internal and external customer’s issues. Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to work independently; demonstrate initiative and analytical ability; and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess strong attention to detail, and highly organized. Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and direction. Ability to work well in a fast paced professional office and laboratory environment. Computer Skills: Capacity to cover a broad scope of technologies and functionalities.
