Mobile Product Engineer - AI-Native (iOS & Android)

The Mobile Product Engineer at KnowledgeCity is the single owner of every KnowledgeCity mobile app on both iOS and Android. Operating within an AI-native model, you own the mobile experience end-to-end across all KC products - from discovery and specification through engineering, testing, App Store and Google Play submission, release, production monitoring, and continuous improvement. Rather than relying on separate specialist teams, you direct a full suite of AI agents across delivery disciplines, combining product thinking, mobile engineering depth, and operational accountability to ship stable, high-quality apps at high velocity.

This is not a traditional mobile developer role. Product teams hand you a ready build or feature scope; you own everything from there to the customer's phone - store accounts, signing, submission, review, release, and what happens after. The ideal candidate is an autonomous, clear-communicating owner who keeps every KC app live, current, and well-rated on both stores, and treats a broken app or an unanswered store review as their own problem to solve.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Mobile Ownership Across All KC Products: Own every KnowledgeCity mobile app on iOS and Android - including KC Safety, KC LMS and other suite apps as they launch. Full accountability for mobile app health, store presence, user ratings, and release quality rests with you.
• App Store & Google Play Release Management: Own the complete store pipeline end-to-end: developer accounts, certificates, provisioning profiles and signing keys, TestFlight and Play internal/closed testing tracks, store listings, screenshots, privacy disclosures, and submission. Anticipate and resolve App Store Review and Google Play policy rejections without escalation. Product Engineers provide the updated build or scope; you own submission through to live release.
• AI Agent Orchestration & Autonomous Execution: Direct and orchestrate AI agents - Developer, QA Engineer, UX Designer, DevOps, Document Writer, and Architect - to design, build, test, and document mobile features. Review every AI-generated output critically before it reaches a device or a store.
• Cross-Platform & Native Engineering: Build and maintain apps using cross-platform frameworks (React Native or Flutter) with the native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) depth to handle platform-specific work - push notifications, deep links, background tasks, offline sync, biometrics, and device permissions. Keep apps current with every new OS version and store SDK requirement.
• Platform Integration: Integrate mobile apps with the KnowledgeCity platform - User Directory SSO and role-based access, product APIs, notifications, and analytics. Coordinate with each product's Product Engineer so mobile releases stay aligned with web releases and backend changes.
• Production Ownership & Post-Release Validation: Validate every release on real iOS and Android devices within one hour of it going live - core user journeys, sign-in, offline behaviour, and edge cases. Monitor crash rates, ANRs, performance, and store vitals continuously. Use phased rollouts and halt or roll back immediately when stability is at risk. You own what ships, and you own what breaks.
• Store Ratings & User Feedback Ownership: Monitor App Store and Google Play reviews, ratings, and crash reports daily. Respond to users, turn recurring issues into prioritized fixes, and never let an outage or a backlog of unanswered reviews go unnoticed.
• Release Governance & Documentation: Maintain a predictable mobile release cadence with clear release notes, version tracking, and rollback readiness. Ship user guides, release notes, and operational runbooks (signing, submission, key rotation) alongside every release - no release is done without them.
• Sprint Rhythm & Stakeholder Communication: Plan and run weekly sprints in KC Horizon: goals written as clear user outcomes, next week's sprint submitted before the weekly review, and every closing goal marked hit or miss with a reason. Communicate proactively with the Head of Product - surface risks, store rejections, and blockers early, with proposed solutions.
• Continuous Improvement & Backlog Ownership: Maintain a prioritized mobile backlog sourced from store reviews, crash analytics, support tickets, usage data, and product roadmaps. Prioritize by user impact and business value.

Skills and Qualifications

Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on mobile app development, with apps you personally shipped and maintained on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Proven end-to-end ownership of store releases - developer accounts, code signing, provisioning, TestFlight and Play testing tracks, submission, and handling review rejections.
• Strong experience with React Native or Flutter, plus working knowledge of native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin) development.
• Experience integrating mobile apps with SSO/OAuth, REST APIs, push notification services (APNs/FCM), and analytics or crash-reporting tools (Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry or similar).
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and the judgment to review AI-generated code at production quality.
• Experience setting up mobile CI/CD pipelines (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise or similar) and automated device testing.
• Demonstrated production ownership - crash triage, phased rollouts, hotfixes, and post-release validation on real devices.
• Experience managing multiple apps or white-label builds from shared codebases is a strong plus.
• EdTech or B2B SaaS mobile experience preferred but not required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.

• Proactive communication: surfaces risks early, reports status clearly, and escalates with solutions - not problems.
• Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken, is mandatory. You will work daily with product owners, stakeholders, and customers.
