At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage, and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. As an Application Architect, you will play a key role in helping our customers accelerate their digital transformation journeys by designing modern, scalable, and secure application architectures across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and hybrid cloud environments.

You will bring together your expertise in application architecture, cloud-native technologies, and modernization strategies to help organizations evolve from legacy systems to innovative, future-ready platforms. Working alongside a global community of architects, engineers, and consultants, you will shape technology solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes.

What you will do

Drive Application Modernization

• Define and execute application modernization strategies aligned with business goals.
• Assess current environments and recommend transformation solutions using Azure, AWS, and cloud-native technologies.
• Partner with stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and shape architectural direction.

Design Cloud Solutions

• Architect scalable, secure, and resilient applications across Azure, AWS, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Develop solution blueprints, integration frameworks, and reference architectures.
• Leverage modern technologies including microservices, APIs, containers, Kubernetes, serverless, and DevSecOps.

Provide Technical Leadership

• Guide development teams on architecture best practices and modernization approaches.
• Conduct architecture reviews and ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Collaborate & Govern

• Work with business and technology teams to translate requirements into effective solutions.
• Ensure architecture aligns with security, compliance, and operational objectives.
• Maintain key architecture artifacts, standards, and technical documentation while promoting knowledge sharing across Kyndryl.

Improvements

• Reduced content by approximately 40% while retaining all core responsibilities.
• Consolidated overlapping points to improve readability.
• Shifted to a more concise, action-oriented Kyndryl style focused on impact and outcomes.

Required skills and experience

• Proven experience as an Application Architect, Solution Architect, or Enterprise Architect in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platforms.
• Expertise in application modernization, cloud migration, and cloud-native architecture design.
• Experience with microservices, APIs, containers (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift), and integration technologies.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation practices.
• Knowledge of security, scalability, performance optimization, and resilience design principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and consulting skills.
• Ability to bridge business needs and technical solutions in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Preferred skills and experience

• Experience in Application, Solution, or Cloud Architecture.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Azure and/or AWS.
• Knowledge of application modernization, microservices, APIs, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Relevant cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, TOGAF) preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
