The Director - Payroll provides strategic, operational, and compliance leadership for all payroll functions across the ministry. This leader is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for caregivers, while driving process improvement, system optimization, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. The Director partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Compensation, Benefits, Information Technology, and operational leaders to deliver an efficient payroll operation that supports organizational goals and a positive caregiver experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience
- Five (5) years of progressive payroll leadership experience.
- Three (3) years of leadership experience managing payroll teams in a large, complex organization.
- Experience with payroll systems, timekeeping applications, and HRIS platforms.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, wage and hour requirements, and compliance standards.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of payroll accounting practices.
- Experience with payroll audits, controls, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale process improvement and technology initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and manage cross-functional partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
- Experience within a large health system, academic medical center, or integrated delivery network.
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll operations.
- Experience with Workday Payroll, UKG/Kronos Dimensions, or similar enterprise payroll systems.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification.
