ERP Product Manager (D365 F&O)

The ERP Product Manager role exists to establish clear ownership of Apollo’s D365 F&O environment and turn it into a strategically managed business platform rather than a reactive support service. The role is accountable for ensuring the ERP environment remains stable, governed, prioritised and aligned to business objectives, while working closely with stakeholders across Apollo to identify opportunities for innovation, process improvement and operational efficiency. Over time, this role will be pivotal in shaping a scalable, well-controlled ERP platform that not only supports Apollo today, but also creates the foundation for future Apollo group companies to join the solution in a structured and sustainable way. In doing so, the role is intended to increase the value the business gets from D365, reduce inefficiency, strengthen internal ownership, and help Apollo operate more effectively as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

1. ERP Product Ownership

• Own the D365 F&O platform as a business product, ensuring clear accountability for roadmap, priorities, service performance and continuous improvement.
• Act as the primary internal owner of the ERP environment, ensuring the platform supports business operations effectively and evolves in a controlled, value-led way.

2. Governance, Demand and Prioritisation

• Own and operate the ERP governance cadence, including service reviews, change reviews, prioritisation forums and decision-making structures.
• Maintain a clear single front door for ERP business demand, ensuring requirements, issues, enhancements and optimisation ideas are triaged consistently and prioritised against business value, risk and capacity.
• Ensure ERP demand is translated into a managed, visible backlog with agreed priorities, ownership and delivery expectations.

3. Lifecycle, Releases and Environment Control

• Own the ERP release calendar and lifecycle approach, including readiness gates, go/no-go decisions, environment discipline and release governance.
• Ensure product updates, configuration changes, improvements and platform changes are planned, communicated and delivered in a controlled way.
• Work with business SMEs, internal IT and external partners to ensure release readiness, testing discipline and deployment confidence.

4. Partner and Supplier Management

• Own the operational relationship with D365 managed service, support and delivery partners.
• Manage partner performance, escalation, service reporting and commercial discipline to ensure delivery aligns with business objectives and agreed standards.
• Maintain clear boundaries between BAU support, project delivery, optimisation work and hypercare to avoid unmanaged ownership gaps.

5. Continuous Improvement and Optimisation

• Proactively identify opportunities to improve the ERP platform, simplify processes, reduce friction and increase business value.
• Work with business stakeholders to shape and prioritise optimisations, ensuring improvements are aligned to the wider business roadmap and platform standards.
• Own the ERP improvement backlog and ensure incremental change is driven purposefully rather than reactively.

6. Product Roadmap and Business Alignment

• Define and maintain the ERP roadmap, balancing operational stability, technical debt, mandatory updates, risk reduction and business-led change.
• Ensure the business understands what is planned, why it is prioritised and what value it is expected to deliver.
• Act as the bridge between business process needs and ERP platform direction.

7. Standards, Controls and Platform Guardrails

• Define and maintain ERP standards covering platform usage, integrations, controls, change discipline, documentation and configuration governance.
• Ensure appropriate controls and guardrails exist around access, change, environment use and platform decision-making.
• Protect the integrity of the ERP environment by ensuring changes are consistent with agreed standards and architecture principles.

8. Documentation and Platform Knowledge

• Ensure ERP platform documentation remains current, structured and useful, including configurations, procedures, key decisions, environment information and operating guidance.
• Strengthen internal ownership and knowledge retention so the environment is less dependent on third parties over time.

9. Stakeholder Management

• Build effective working relationships across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Quality, Engineering and IT stakeholders.
• Translate technical or platform constraints into sensible business decisions and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Act as the accountable point of contact for ERP platform decisions, priorities and issues.

Scope Boundaries

In Scope

• D365 Finance & Operations platform ownership.
• ERP governance, prioritisation, roadmap, lifecycle and release management.
• Managed partner and support partner accountability.
• Continuous improvement, optimisation intake and business-driven enhancement prioritisation.

Out of Scope

• Hands-on development build work as a primary responsibility.
• Power BI platform ownership / BI delivery management.
• CRM/CE product ownership and business ownership.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations in a live, business-critical environment.
• Proven experience in ERP service ownership, application/product ownership, ERP management, or a similar senior techno-functional platform role.
• Strong understanding of ERP governance, prioritisation, lifecycle management and controlled change.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate business demand into prioritised platform work.
• Strong partner/vendor management capability.
• Ability to bring structure, accountability and commercial focus to a business-critical ERP landscape.

Desirable

• Manufacturing, supply chain or warehouse process knowledge.
• Experience in a product-led or platform-owner style role.
• Familiarity with integrations, platform controls, testing governance and release planning.
• Microsoft D365 certifications such as MB-310, MB-500 or MB-700.

What Success Looks Like

• There is one clear accountable owner for D365 F&O.
• ERP business demand is triaged and prioritised consistently.
• The platform has a visible roadmap and release cadence.
• Third-party partners are managed tightly against expectations.
• ERP changes are more controlled, better communicated and more clearly linked to business value.
• The D365 environment is no longer seen as “just a support system”, but as a managed business product.
