Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staffing Support Coordinator to support the development, training, and retention of our Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff. This position plays a key role in helping employees build the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to provide high-quality care and support.
The Staffing Support Coordinator will coordinate new-hire training and mentoring, provide hands-on coaching, monitor staff competency and programming fidelity, and support employees during challenging situations. This position requires strong communication skills, excellent documentation, sound judgment, and the ability to model effective verbal de-escalation techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Training & Staff Development
- Ensure on-the-job training and floor orientation for new employees is completed according to regulations and within required timeframes.
- Identify training and development needs through interviews, observation, surveys, discussions, and ongoing performance reviews.
- Provide daily feedback to supervisors regarding new-hire progress and onboarding.
- Conduct side-by-side training and coaching in the milieu to develop staff competency in real-time.
- Provide 1:1 training and consultation to staff as needed.
- Maintain required training certifications and staff training records.
- Maintain accurate OTJT forms, coaching logs, and documentation for licensing and compliance reviews.
Mentoring & Retention
- Coordinate and oversee the new-hire mentoring program, including developing program goals, matching mentors and mentees, providing resources, monitoring progress, and evaluating outcomes.
- Support staff professional development goals through ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Coach staff in the moment and provide constructive feedback to strengthen performance and confidence.
- Support retention efforts by helping create an engaged, supported, and collaborative programming team.
Crisis Support & De-escalation
- Serve as an approved company trainer in physical intervention and verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Model excellent verbal de-escalation skills and appropriate responses to challenging situations.
- Support staff during interventions and directly assist when necessary.
- Maintain self-control and professionalism during crisis situations.
- Properly and safely implement agency-approved intervention techniques.
- Facilitate immediate staff debriefs following critical incidents to provide support and identify opportunities for improvement.
Quality & Program Oversight
- Conduct and document monthly staff fidelity checklists across all shifts to ensure adherence to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
- Review and analyze incidents monthly by shift and unit to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to staff and managers to improve safety, performance, and operational effectiveness.
- Support consistent implementation of programming standards and quality services.
Operational & Team Support
- Provide coverage support for Program Coordinators during absences to help maintain seamless program operations.
- Provide shift coverage as needed to address staffing shortages and maintain continuity of services.
- Support the programming department outside of normal business hours, including holidays and third-shift observations.
- Attend supervisory meetings, in-services, and other meetings as scheduled.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; additional education in human services, behavioral health, education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental, behavioral, or emotional needs preferred.
- Experience providing staff training, coaching, mentoring, or professional development preferred.
- Experience with crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation preferred.
- Experience working in a residential, educational, healthcare, or human services setting preferred.

Additional Requirements:
- Must be available to flex your schedule based on program needs.
- Must be available to observe and support staff across all three shifts, including occasional holidays and third-shift observations.
- May be required to provide support outside of normal business hours.
- Must be able to respond promptly and appropriately to emergency and critical situations.
- Must be able to maintain required training certifications.
- Valid Indiana Driver's License required; chauffeur/public passenger license preferred.
- Must be able to safely implement agency-approved physical intervention techniques when necessary.
