Description of Work
This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.
The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Senior Grants Compliance Specialist to serve within our Rapid Response Division. Through this position you would mentor other Grants Compliance Specialists, while also ensuring grant funding among North Carolina public entities are properly used.
As part of our team, you will get to: • Work as part of a team to plan and conduct audits of a variety of grants being used by public state entities • Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand the programs under an audit • Conduct on-site fieldwork, including information gathering and interviews, to determine: o Any risks impacting the program under the audit o To identify processes and controls that mitigate program risks • Review and analyze source records, programmatic data, financial and program documentation, and/or systems • Learn more about state and federal agencies, programs, statutes, rules, regulations, and policies • Document the results of your work and any potential findings and recommendations • Help in the writing of the final reports established by the Rapid Response Division
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000

Minimum Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and 3 years of experience in auditing/accounting or program evaluation
