The Mountain Operations Manager for Soda Springs is responsible for leading multiple departments, managing staff and resources, maintaining safety and guest service standards, and ensuring successful resort operations throughout the year. Ideal candidates should have strong leadership and communication skills, experience managing multiple departments, and a solid understanding of resort operations, budgeting, safety, training, and employee development.
This is a 10-month position offering a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and paid time off.

Essential functions & Major responsibilities:
Mountain Operations Leadership: Responsible for the overall direction, management, and successful operation of Soda Springs Mountain Operations, including winter mountain operations, summer maintenance, and winter operating season preparation.
Department Leadership: Lead and oversee mountain patrol, Tube Town operations, lift operations, parking services, and ticket checking while collaborating with snowmaking, snow removal, grooming, vehicle maintenance, and facility maintenance teams.
Staffing & Employee Development: Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, discipline, and terminate employees as needed. Build effective leadership and frontline teams while maintaining approved staffing levels and labor budgets.
Safety & Risk Management: Develop, implement, and enforce company and resort safety policies and procedures. Proactively identify hazards, promote safe work practices, and ensure employees participate in required safety programs and meetings.
Summer Maintenance: Coordinate, plan, procure supplies for, and perform maintenance projects throughout the resort, with a focus on addressing deferred maintenance and preparing facilities and activity venues for the winter season.
Winter Season Preparation: Lead early-season recruitment, onboarding, training preparation, staffing, equipment procurement, and operational planning to ensure departments are ready for the winter operating season.
Specific Job Skills:
- Strong understanding of mountain and resort operations

- Ability to create and manage staffing schedules
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
Technical Skills:
- Experience with departmental budgeting and budget management
- Experience developing and maintaining operating schedules
- Ability to develop and maintain department training documents and procedures
- Experience conducting or participating in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Ability to monitor and maintain payroll accuracy and departmental records
- Understanding of resort safety requirements and risk management practices
- Ability to oversee maintenance projects and coordinate resources and supplies
- Ability to perform light preventative repair and maintenance on resort vehicles and equipment
