About the Role SailPoint is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help build a new cloud-based SaaS identity analytics product. We are looking for well-rounded backend or full stack engineers who are passionate about building and delivering reliable, scalable microservices and infrastructure for SaaS products. In this role, you will deliver efficient, maintainable, robust Java-based microservices, produce technical designs and rough estimates, implement features based on product requirements, and collaborate closely with peers on code reviews and testing.

We are where high-quality professional engineering meets individual impact. Our products are built on a mature, cloud-native event-driven microservices architecture hosted in AWS. As one of the early members on the team, you will be integral in building this product and will be part of an agile team operating in startup mode, backed by an established global leader.
Roadmap for Success
- 30 Days: Complete onboarding, get familiar with the codebase, development environment, and architecture, and deliver your first code contribution.
- 60 Days: Actively participate in sprint planning, design discussions, and code reviews; build core microservice features and produce unit and end-to-end tests.
- 90 Days: Independently develop and deliver features, contribute to technical architecture discussions, and enhance automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- 6 Months: Own key functional areas of the identity analytics product, instrument code to track production performance metrics, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive product reliability.
- 1 Year: Lead architectural enhancements for scalable microservices, drive best practices across the engineering team, and contribute to long-term technical strategy.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong Java experience and comprehensive understanding of Java frameworks
- Comprehensive experience with object-oriented analysis and design skills
- Comprehensive experience with object-oriented programming techniques
- Great communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AWS cloud services
- Experience with Continuous Delivery
- Experience working on a Big Data or Machine Learning product
- Experience instrumenting code for gathering production performance metrics
