What Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for people who are relentlessly curious and committed to continuous learning. AI is reshaping every function across our business, and we enable every team member, regardless of role or level, to build fluency in AI tools and concepts. Those who thrive here actively seek out new solutions, experiment thoughtfully, and apply what they learn to drive better, faster, smarter outcomes.
As a Software Engineering Manager - Test Platform, you will lead SentinelOne's SaaS Test Platform Service team, setting operational objectives, work plans, and quality strategy for the quality of SentinelOne SaaS services on the Singularity platform. You will manage and grow a team of automation and software engineers, translating company and organizational strategy into test frameworks, tools, and services that improve developer experience and product quality, while building a culture of excellence at SentinelOne. You will partner closely with engineering, product, and other managers and directors to ensure high quality standards for testing and coverage of SentinelOne products and services.
What Will You Do?
Primary responsibilities include:
- Establish operational objectives, work plans, and quality strategy for ensuring quality in code through all phases of the software development lifecycle, and implement policies that affect the development team's operations.
- Manage and grow a team of test automation and software engineers, delegating assignments, setting performance expectations, and holding regular performance and career development discussions.
- Champion the team's adoption of automated test frameworks, Docker-based test environments, and cloud validation across AWS and GCP, while integrating AI-powered tools into the validation lifecycle.
- Own the team's charter as an internal enablement function, building and evolving the standards, tools, and frameworks that other engineering teams consume for testing across the full pyramid: unit, component, integration, end-to-end, and persona-based.
- Partner with directors, managers, and cross-functional stakeholders in development, validation, and other engineering teams to align on requirements, schedules, and work plans, and to advocate for the team's priorities.
- Drive adoption of the platform across the organization through documentation, onboarding, office hours, quick turn-arounds on feedback, and internal evangelism, making it the obvious, easiest path for teams to test their features well.
- Hold the team accountable for project and quality results, resolving prioritization conflicts using consistent criteria around effort and impact, and making trade-off calls when information is incomplete.
- Define and track platform health and adoption metrics, including coverage, test flakiness, pipeline reliability, and time-to-onboard, and report progress and impact to engineering leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement of testing processes, coverage, and methodologies across the team, sharing insights and best practices with peer managers and the wider organization.
- Coach and mentor engineers, invest in their growth and AI development transformation, and foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety so every team member can contribute meaningfully.
What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?
Ideal candidates will have:
- Years of experience as an individual contributor in software quality assurance, validation engineering, or test automation, ideally including some experience managing or leading a team.
- Experience managing or leading a team of 5 or more engineers, or strong readiness to step into people management, including supporting hiring and performance discussions.
- Solid domain expertise in test frameworks, automation and quality engineering, with the ability to lead and engage in technical and architecture level conversations with senior individual contributors at the Staff level and above.
- Strong understanding of test frameworks and tooling such as Python (Pytest) and TypeScript (Playwright), containerization with Docker, and cloud environments such as AWS and GCP.
- Experience designing or scaling an internal developer platform / "paved road" testing model that other engineering teams adopt by choice rather than mandate.
- Solid grasp of the full test pyramid, unit, component, integration, E2E, and persona-based testing, and judgment about which layer best fits a given testing problem.
- Experience setting quality engineering strategy, budgets, and work plans for an organization, and implementing policies that affect team and cross-team operations.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate company and organizational strategy into clear, meaningful goals for the team.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience working effectively with peer managers, directors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- A track record of coaching and developing engineers, with a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and building high-performing teams.
