Job Title: Assistant Manager – Finance

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager – Finance to lead finance operations for our India branch. The candidate must have strong knowledge of Indian taxation laws (GST, WHT, Tax on Profit), hands-on experience in payroll processing, and a good understanding of export-import finance. This role will be pivotal in maintaining financial discipline ensuring statutory compliance, handling payroll and vendor management, and providing actionable MIS for strategic decisions. The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in Payroll and Tally Prime.
This position will be based in Kalyani Nagar Pune, Maharashtra, India.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting & Financial Operations:
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of day-to-day financial transactions.
- Verify and book vendor invoices under appropriate accounting heads; perform monthly vendor reconciliations.
- Match advance payments with respective vendor invoices; process OEM payment requests and maintain payment schedules.
- Monitor daily bank balances and prepare daily/weekly cash flow statements for payment planning and management reporting.
2. Payroll Management:
- Prepare and process monthly payroll for all staff as per Indian labour laws.
- Ensure timely computation and deduction of Tax on Salary, NSSF, and other statutory contributions.
- Maintain accurate employee salary records and payroll reconciliations.
- Coordinate with HR for attendance, leaves, bonuses, and employee reimbursements.
- Submit payroll-related reports to relevant authorities (Ministry of Labour & Vocational Training and GDT) as required.
3. Indian Taxation & VAT Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with Indian tax laws (GST, WHT, Tax on Profit, Minimum Tax).
- Prepare and file GST returns; reconcile input/output GST with invoices and system reports.
- Coordinate GST refund claims and maintain supporting documents for audits.
- Assist in preparing annual tax returns and liaise with external tax consultants and auditors.
4. Export-Import & Banking Operations:
- Oversee issuance of export invoices and shipping documents; ensure timely submission of E-Way Bills and customs paperwork.
- Monitor shipment schedules and ensure OEM/vendor payments are processed as per the timeline.
- Prepare documentation for international/foreign payments, coordinate with banks for fund transfers and compliance.
- Conduct weekly bank reconciliations and ensure FD balances match with bank confirmations.
5. Freight Forwarders & Shipment Costing:
- Liaise with freight forwarders; raise purchase orders and validate shipment bills before payment.
- Reconcile freight forwarder statements against internal ledger records.
- Generate shipment-wise costing reports, analyze actuals vs. estimates, and calculate gross profit on each shipment.
- Report weekly GP trends to the management and highlight any cost anomalies.
6. Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing:
- Prepare monthly Profit & Loss accounts and review with CFO.
- Lead month-end closure activities including: Passing of provisioning entries Booking accrued expenses and liabilities Updating depreciation, prepaid expenses, and asset schedules Preparation of monthly stock reports
- Escalate pending employee travel advance settlements to supervisors.
7. Audit, Compliance & Administration:
- Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors for financial audits and provide required documents.
- Ensure timely filing and payment of all statutory dues (GST, TOI, WHT, Tax on Salary, NSSF, etc.).
- Coordinate with HR and Admin teams to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Support branch administration and HR activities under direction of CFO/CEO.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Qualification: B. Com / M. Com / ACCA-Inter / ICWAI-Inter / MBA in Finance or equivalent.
- Experience: 8-12 years in accounting and finance, preferably in trading or automotive sector.
- Tax Knowledge: Strong command over Indian GST, Tax on Profit, Tax on Salary, WHT, and payroll laws.
- Skills Required: Payroll experience Expertise in Tally Prime Fluent in English Strong Excel and accounting system skills Good interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities High attention to detail and problem-solving attitude
