Junior Systems Administrator (5680)

SMX is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to provide hands-on technical support for systems and users at Webster Field / WOLF in Saint Inigoes, MD.

This position is onsite and will support hardware, Windows operating systems and applications, system maintenance, and cybersecurity compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of Windows systems administration and be comfortable supporting both day-to-day IT operations and cybersecurity compliance requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide hardware support, troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and lifecycle support for workstations and associated equipment.
• Support Windows operating systems and applications, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Perform routine system administration and maintenance activities to maintain system availability and reliability.
• Apply and validate operating system and application patches in accordance with established maintenance and cybersecurity requirements.
• Implement and maintain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Support vulnerability management activities, including ACAS scanning, analysis of findings, tracking, and remediation.
• Monitor and verify system backups and support backup and recovery activities.
• Identify and remediate system configuration and cybersecurity compliance findings.
• Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and required compliance records.
• Coordinate with system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, engineers, and other technical teams to resolve system and compliance issues.
• Support additional system administration and IT operational requirements as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Clearance Required: Top Secret
• A high school diploma and up to 3 years of experience
• Security+ or other IAT Level II certification
• Foundational experience supporting Windows operating systems, computer hardware, or enterprise IT environments.
• Familiarity with Windows administration, application installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, patching, and system hardening.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues independently or with senior-level guidance.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work onsite at Webster Field / WOLF in Saint Inigoes, MD

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or other regulated IT environments.
• Familiarity with DISA STIGs and STIG Viewer.
• Experience with ACAS/Tenable vulnerability scanning and remediation.
• Experience with Windows patching and system backup/recovery processes.
• Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Experience documenting and remediating cybersecurity compliance findings.
• CompTIA Security+ or other applicable DoD cybersecurity certification.
• Experience supporting classified or controlled environments.

$35—$47 USD
